Another two exciting years have passed and brought some new interesting research opportunities, international contacts and third party funding.

Most important for us, the Institute of Visual Computing (IVC) had a successful internal and external evaluation by four internationally well known experts in Visual Computing. After the evaluation the President’s Office of the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) decided to extend the IVC’s funding for another five years.

We would like to thank all our scientific and industrial partners for taking part in this important achievement!

Among the new projects we have started are a serious games project for paramedic vocational training (EPICSAVE), the usage of Virtual Reality for the treatment of phobia and the installation of a compact hundred megapixels video wall (“Mosquito”) besides our large video wall “HORNET”. In addition, we take pride in having acquired two more DFG funded projects on collaboration with large video walls and multi-sensory View Management in Augmented Reality (starting in 2017).

Information on these new and other projects of 2015 and 2016 can be found in the next pages of this annual report.

As has been our policy since the founding of the IVC, we are looking forward to expanding our network, working together with fellow researchers around the world and the regional as well as (inter-)national industry and, in parallel, intensifying existing contacts.

On the next couple of pages you will find information about the most important events, on-going projects, awards we achieved, theses that were completed at the IVC and our contributions to the academic community.

We hope you will find this information useful. We invite you to contact us should you have any interest in collaboration.

Best regards,
